I sometimes feel guilty when I call a customer service number and am unable to understand the person on the other end of the line. It lengthens the call and causes confusion.  I wish that I could easily understand anyone who speaks with me!

I think of the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit caused Jesus' followers to speak in languages they had never learned so that their listeners would understand the good news of Jesus.

Lord, please help me to better understand the people around me.  Help me to see in them the beloved child created in your image whom you see.  Thank you for understanding me.  Amen.
